Taylor Swift Tickets – Fearless in Austin, TX
Country darling Taylor Swift will be returning to the United States for an additional leg of her sold-out “Fearless” tour. She will be stopping in Austin on March 10, 2010 to perform at the University of Texas’s Frank Erwin Center. Tickets went on sale for the Austin show and– other shows on October 23, and were sold out within minutes. The’-year old Taylor will be joined by her good friend Kellie Pickler and new artist Gloriana will open all of the shows on the tour.
Swift’s second album “Fearless” garnered her the highest debut for any country artist in 2008, and the album’s chart-topping singles, including “Love Story” and “White Horse” cemented Swift’s position as a top crossover artist. Taylor Swift’s music has such a diverse appeal that she was even recognized by the Academy for Country Music for attracting younger fans to the genre. Taylor Swift is also the youngest country artist ever to be nominated for country music’s prestigious Entertainer of the Year award. Taylor Swift’s two albums have sold almost 600,000 combined in digital downloads, making her albums the top 2 bestselling country albums in digital history.
Recently, Swift found herself in the midst of an unfortunate controversy at the September MTV’ Video Music Awards when she won Best Female Video for “You Belong to Me.” Kanye West famously jumped onstage and snatched the microphone from the stunned Swift, claiming that Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” video was one of the best videos of all time, garnering him a large amount of negative press. Following Taylor’s appearance on The View, West finally called her to apologize for disrupting her speech.
Even at such a young age, Taylor Swift has also been recognized for her numerous philanthropic efforts, including a campaign in 2007 to protect children everywhere from the danger of internet predators. She is also known for generously giving to the Red Cross and St. Jude’s Children’s Research.
The Frank Erwin Center was constructed in’77 for the University of Texas at Austin. In 2003, the Center finished a $55 million renovation. New safety upgrades, concession stands,renovations on the Lone Star Room reception hall, and new scoreboards were some of the many renovations completed.
For those who were lucky enough to buy tickets and are traveling from outside of Austin, there are several hotels located near the Frank Erwin Center, including a Super 8, Sheraton and La Quinta Inn. Driving directions for the FEC are as follows. (From the Austin Bergstrom International Airport) 1. After exiting airport, turn left onto TX-71/E. Bastrop Hwy. 2. Turn right onto I-35. 3. Exit 15th Street/MLK Blvd. 4. Turn left onto 15th St. 6. Turn right on to Red River St.
Music isn’t all that Taylor is working on, as we will see her acting debut in the file “Valentine’s Day” next year. Swift had previously appeared in the “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience” and the “Hannah Montana” movie.
